Uichico said he’s implementing an amalgam of systems from Black and another former Talk ‘N’ Text coach Chot Reyes. “We’re all getting used to each other,” he said. “We’re taking it step by step and making adjustments.” Uichico is backed up by assistants Nash Racela, Josh Reyes and Bong Ravena and consultant Tab Baldwin. “Tab brings decades of experience playing at the highest level, four World Cups and one Olympics not to mention countless qualifiers and Euroleague tournaments,” said team manager Aboy Castro. “He’s a sounding board for Jong, the staff and the players, similar to what Tex Winter was for Phil Jackson. It’s the same role that Tab played for Chot during the past two summers.” Castro said Racela, Reyes and Ravena also play key roles. “Nash brings years of championship experience in the MBA, PBL, D-League, PBA and the national team,” continued Castro. “He helps out in game preparations, practice planning and most importantly, in in-game adjustments. It’s always good to have another person on the bench who thinks as a head coach does. “Josh scouts the opponents, does all the video work and runs the practice team. Since he’s the expert in the dribble drive motion offense, he has taken a more active role teaching the offense as Jong has decided to use this offense. We’ve invested and sent Josh to the US multiple times to learn this offense directly from the inventor Vance Wahlberg. “Bong works with the players to polish their skills before and after the main practice.
