Happy Birthday To Me! TBT. This is where I came to life 57 years ago today, inside this little house in Clio, SC. It still stands. First and second grades were launched from this place and I still have so many early childhood memories from inside and outside this house: wetting the bed, pop belly stove getting red hot, going outside and turning the t.v. antenna so my daddy could watch GunSmoke clearly, priming the water pump on the back porch and pumping water out of it, heating water on the stove to take baths in a big round metal tub, wash ups in a foot tub, pure lard from Smithfield, Va., using that lard for lotion and my sisters hair with the straightening comb, a jar of Oh Boy Syrup with fatback meat and biscuits, pinto beans, butter beams and rice, fried chicken on Sunday, neck bones through the week, fish on Friday nights, lunch was called dinner and dinner was called supper, neighbors borrowed food items from each other all the time, and color tvs were the technological iPhone/iPad craze of the era. And did I mention that out house that sat in the back yard? Oh yeah, that ole out house, never will forget it. Thank God for the memories and that they are now just memories. Nevertheless, thank God for His goodness down through the years.
