Happy Birthday to singer, songwriter Ed Bruce (b. December 29, 1939- ). Bruce grew up in Memphis, TN, and at 17 years of age he visited Sun Records to talk to Jack Clement. Bruce caught the attention of Sam Phillips, and he used Bruce to write and record songs for Sun Records. He then moved on to RCA, where he continued to record his original compositions. Some of his songs went on to be made hits by other artists, including The Man That Turned My Mama On by Tanya Tucker and Mamas Dont Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys by Waylon Jennings at Willie Nelson. Tanya Tucker also recorded the Bruce song Texas When I Die, which was a Top 5 single. Ed Bruce finally hit number 1 in 1982 with Youre the Best Break This Old Heart Has Ever Had, and followed it up with Top 10 hits such as Ever, Never Lovin You, My First Taste of Texas, and After All. #happybirthday #edbruce youtu.be/gJtBeG9-150
