Happy Birthday today (Nov. 21) to guitarist Peter Koppes, best known as a founding member of influential Australian indie rock band, The Church, initially associated with 80s new wave & neo-psychedelia, & noted for such hits as their 1981 Oz #22 The Ungarded Moment & 1988 US #24 Under The Milky Way; Peter is a multi-talented instrumentalist, also playing mandolin, drums, piano & harmonica; like other members of the band, he has also released multiple solo albums, including his 1988 debut Manchild & Myth & most recently, the 2008 2-CD compilation Misty Heights & Cloudy Memories 1987-2002; Peter lives on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland where he also produces albums, teaches songwriting, & performs in the 60s covers band Psychedelia; The Church was inducted into the (Australian) ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010…
