Happy Birthday today (Nov. 29) to Felix Cavaliere, best known as the organist & co-lead vocalist with successful 60s New York pop/rock group, The Young Rascals (later, The Rascals); they were one of Americas biggest charting groups between 1965-69; their hits included the Cavaliere-sung Good Lovin, Groovin, A Girl Like You, A Beautiful Morning & People Got to Be Free, as they evolved from blue-eyed soul to psych-pop & jazz fusion; Felix went on to release several solo albums & score the 1980 US #36 hit, Only A Lonely Heart Sees; he participate in oldies shows (including touring in Ringo Starrs All-Starr band in 1995) & various Rascals reunions (presently ongoing), produce other artists, & record two albums with Stax guitar legend Steve Cropper - Nudge It Up a Notch (2008) & Midnight Flyer (2010); Felix & former writing partner Eddie Brigati were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009…
