Happy Christmas to all my facebook friends wherever you may be. All the very best for 2015 and may your wishes come true. Sincere thanks for the presents cards and private messages, they mean a lot to us and we are truly grateful. Thanks for all the likes shares comments and pictures throughout the year too. I have enjoyed meeting friends old and new on board LJ and often look back on a cold wet winters day and remember the adventures we have shared together and the miles we have travelled and smile to myself. 2014 was a fantastic season as far as the weather went and we were seldom restricted to where we could go, I hope next year is equally as kind. Wildlife wise we could scarcely have asked for better, our eagle families all raised chicks to fledging this year and we enjoyed seeing the youngsters venturing further afield as the season wore on. Mammals were present on most trips with good views of otters many times and more porpoise sightings than of recent years, common seals seemed to arrive late but had plenty pups for us to watch. Whale sightings around our normal patch were sketchy but we did see them on trips further afield on all but 1 trip, dolphins were seen occasionally but not as often as 2012/13. If this year will be remembered for just 1 thing it will probably be the jellyfish. We saw more species, bigger individuals and they were around for longer than ever before. It could be just a seasonal blip or could be an indicator of something we have been warned of for several years but have seen little evidence of to date. If our seas are getting warmer then the predicted drop in sand eel numbers didnt happen this year, in fact at times the sea was stuffed with fish and you could catch mackerel just about anywhere. Just a few last minute presents to wrap now but first I will have to find 1, I hid it from prying eyes and forgot where I put it - probably an age thing ;-)
