Happy Ember Saturday. Here are some possible prayers... A Prayer for Growing Unity Among Christians: O most Blessed Trinity, we come before you seeking reconciliation and peace among all of our sisters and brothers, especially those among us who share the ancient catholic faith. Show us how to love one another as you love us. Almighty Father, source of everlasting light; inspire us to listen to each other with the ear of our hearts. O Lord Jesus Christ, help us to remember that even as you are Gods unselfish love to us, your living body the Church, of which we are all a part, is our guide. O Holy Spirit, grant us the grace necessary to make a sincere effort to minimize and eventually resolve all of our discords. Amen Almighty God, we beg you to have mercy on us. You have forgiven us all our sins and washed us clean through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, this we know and yet we continue to be at enmity with our Christian sisters and brothers, even those who profess the ancient catholic faith through the Creeds. Strengthen us in all goodness, Lord God, and by the power of the Holy Spirit bring us all into unity around a shared table, and keep us all on the path to eternal life. Amen. A Collect for Saturdays: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all you works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. For the World Cycle of Prayer: We remember and pray for the people of Vatican City. For the Ecumenical Cycle of Prayer: We remember and pray for our sisters and brothers members of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. A Prayer of General Thanksgiving: Almighty God, Father of all mercies, I your unworthy servant give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to me and to all whom you have made. I bless you for my creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life, especially _____; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, I pray, give me such an awareness of your mercies, that with a truly thankful heart I may show forth your praise, not only with my lips, but in my life, by the giving up my self to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all my days. This I humbly ask through Jesus Christ my Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen. Benediction: Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen. (2 Cor 13:14)
