Happy Friday! First, let me apologize to my friend, Lisa Hale. While I appreciate the art and effort it takes to craft interesting photographs, I must hide the ones of spiders, as my poor psyche was damaged when I was a small child looking into an old well that housed thousands of Granddaddy Longlegs. I was never the same. Carrying on...My first week back at the mine went exceedingly well. I was amazed at the welcome backs even from people Im not sure I had met yet. It is like a small town, however, word of things moves like wildfire. It was good to see friends and to work not steeped in grief. Doesnt mean the grief isnt there, it just isnt pounding on you all the time. In times like these you latch on to what was normal...you regain some of it, but not all of it. And it is okay. We know and accept that the direction we once were headed has changed. We might be flying a little blindly right now. Remember, though, we are home where we are grounded and secure...so if we dont know immediately what the future holds...its okay...we are tethered to home and The Pack has teeth on the rope. You dont think I could go a post and not mention The Pack, did you?? HA! It is the best part of coming home on Thursdays...I open the kitchen door and The Pack is there with happy feet...Even Phil had happy feet! It is a lot of love to walk into and it goes a long way in making things right in my world. I have spent the first hour or so of today filling out insurance forms. They werent quite as cumbersome as I thought they would be...but as Phil is the beneficiary there arent too many extraneous details that have to be seen to. We fill out the forms...attach a few certificates and off they go. One more thing checked off the list. I was supposed to have a doctors appointment today, but because I was gone I didnt get the required blood work done. I will have to do that and reschedule. Not sure when...Ill be working my regular schedule next week...but after that I will be working through a weekend because we have Open Enrollment. That will be interesting...overtime should be killer though. :) When we left for Colorado, leaves were still on the trees turning colors. They were on the ground by the time the returned. The trees and shrubs now look skeletal, the wind swirls their leaves and blasts them down the street like a marauding gang. We usually have snow on the ground by now, but all there is this morning is a heavy frost. I enjoy the first few snow falls. Once the brilliant colors of fall have faded and the world around us drifts into its winter sleep the blanket of sparkling white glimmers in the sun like diamonds. It gives of us hope of the spring to come. Even when it is desperately cold and the moisture in the air freezes, the air around you seems to be filled with glitter. It is like living in your own personal snow globe....have a great day, friends!
