Happy Friday! Here are 5 quick tips from TMS Services to help get your resume noticed by employers: 1. Focus on the company. Your resume should tell potential employers what you bring to the table. Keep in mind that every time a hiring manager reviews a resume he/she has one question in mind: “How will this person benefit my company?” 2. Keep it simple and precise. Hiring managers are typically bombarded with resumes. Make yours short and sweet. Get to the point and keep it easy to read. 3. Include a hyperlink for your email address. Creating a clickable link to your email address makes it easier for potential employers to contact you. 4. Don’t get fancy. Many articles talk about making your resume stand out visually. The problem using fancy fonts and formatting is that your resume may not upload correctly into the company’s candidate tracking system. Keep your resume font and format very basic and let your skills and history do the talking. 5. Include key words. Almost all employers are now using applicant tracking systems. When they have a job opening they do a key word search to help sort through the mass quantities of resumes they receive (i.e. “autocad” + “mechanical” + “healthcare”) Contact our staffing department for more tips on how to get noticed!
