Happy Friday everyone! What a way to open the first weekend of Fall. It will not feel like it as daily warming will continues. We are stuck in a blocking pattern. High pressure at the surface and in the upper levels has been anchored over the eastern US this week. The term blocking refers to the inability of storm systems to come east - similar to a offensive lineman protecting the quarterback. This pattern prevents us from getting any rain. It holds for several days and one result of the pattern is a storm stuck out in the desert southwest. This low is churning over Nevada and Arizona today. Talk about rare weather, severe storms are possible in locations like Las Vegas this afternoon and evening Night time lows have come up but still cools quickly again tonight - enjoy the evening but away from the city the temp will drop quickly after sunset, A light jacket could be required later tonight or at least by the 4th quarter of area high school games. Dry spell reaches day 5 and could reach 11 with the next rain chance not coming until next Friday. That is the day to circle for a bigger change in our weather. Much colder air is forecast to drop in for next weekend.
