Happy Labor Day! Ive never been more proud to lead SEIU Virginia 512, whose hard-working members have been leading the fight for a better life for all working families in Virginia in 2014! This year alone, union members delivered quality public services; protected and expanded home care, local libraries and park services; helped pass a pilot program to make college more affordable; passed a minimum wage increase through the state senate; improved our mental health system; increased CPR training for home care workers; partnered with Sheriff Kincaid to strengthen relationships with the community, won long-overdue raises for county employees in Loudoun and Fairfax; won justice for workers unfairly fired; supported fast food workers historic efforts to lift themselves out of poverty; helped 27,000 MN home care providers improve home care; won special election after special election after special election; etc. And we will continue the fight for Medicaid Expansion until every Virginian has access to affordable, quality health care! The labor movement has never been more needed or more vibrant. Lets keep fighting for justice!
