Happy Labor Day...did you ever wonder why ? The idea was first proposed by a machinist who was involved with the early labor unions in 1882. The concept was originally Canadian. In 1887 Oregon was the first State to make it a legal State Holiday. In 1894 legislation was "rushed through" , to make it a Federal/National Holiday. The rush was to calm the American people in the aftermath of the Pullman Strike, where several workers were killed by US Military / Marshals. We originally had this day to celebrate the creativity, industriousness, contribution, and sacrifice of the American Worker. Our Country was still young, growing, and PRODUCING. With most of our industry moving to foreign soil, and fewer people working than those seeking work, is this still a celebration, or just another "Idle Day" .
