Happy Mothers Day! This weekend, most of the KMS Cyclists - TopicsExpress

Happy Mothers Day! This weekend, most of the KMS Cyclists traveled to Gould Academy for their home road race. The course is mostly up hill, which seemed to suite the KMS riders well. In the Mens A field, Jonah MeadVancort sprinted to a first place finish, followed closely by Noah Barrow in 2nd. In the Mens B field, Ryan Znamierowski controlled the pace of the race most of the way, and was still able to sprint to a 4th place finish. Moving on to the Mens C race, KMS Austin Roussel sprinted to 2nd place, followed closely by Abe Studler in 3rd. In the Womens A field, there were two riders off the front, and Turner Ramsay was able to get away from the chase group to finish in 3rd place. Once again, nice efforts and team work by all! While we were at Gould, KMS Cyclist Chris Welch took on the Bristol Mountain Road Race. It seems that he forgot he was entered in the Cat 3 race! Chris opted to mix it up with the Nalgene team instead, and rode to a very strong top-10 finish...in the Pro 1/2 field. Needless to say, he finished well ahead of the Cat 3 field to take the top spot on that podium. As a cool follow up, Nalgenes Brendan Housler (1st in Pro 1/2) took him aside to congratulate him and discuss tactics and how & why the race went down as it did. It means a lot when top riders take the time to approach juniors and give them a pat on the back & some friendly advice. That is what it is all about... Thanks Brendan! Mothers day was a much needed day off the bike for the KMS Squad, as they look forward to two weekends of stage races... Syracuse next weekend, and, of course, The Killington Stage Race Memorial Day weekend! Thanks to all the KMS Moms for raising fine young men and women and helping to make KMS Cycling a reality for our athletes!
