Soli (short for solidarity) is the practice in which journalists, who cover programs and events are given money, apparently to “cover the cost of travel to the event”. It was recently condemned by the British High Commissioner at an Imani Ghana event. Paul Adom Otchere of Metro TV defended the practice, saying that there is nothing wrong with a private media house charging to cover an event because they are paying for the time of the media house.
