Happy New Year! New Intentions, New Awareness, New Beginnings We just returned from two weeks of vacation which was absolutely wonderful. I had so many moments of gratitude, epiphanies, and ideas on how to create more of what I want in my life. I decided to totally unplug on this trip, meaning no TV, Internet, Email, IPad. I did have my cell phone with me, and on but I got relatively few calls. Immediately, the stress level reduced by not watching the news and being ‘on watch’ with email. Now that we are back to work we are trying to minimize the information bombardment. This NY cartoon got me thinking about how we have turned our lives over to electronic media. So many people want the largest TV available no matter how large their room. From a design standpoint it is very hard to ignore the big black box in the room. In case you are not aware, there is a formula for how large the TV should be in relation to your viewing space, google it or see this site. rtings/info/television-size-to-distance-relationship As a designer I prefer the TV to be in proportion to the room and I like to disguise or minimize the effects of it unless of course the client wants it to be a focal point (like home theatre). Now that we are home we find we are listening to music more and having more quiet time. It is so refreshing being away from the constant news updates and screaming commercials. If you think your TV is too predominant to your room or lifestyle call me, I can help. Mahalo and peace, Joan
