Happy New Year! On March 6, 1981 Walter Cronkite anchored his last new cast for The CBS Evening News. I have taken some liberty and adjusted his words for my last post as Pastor of St. Clements. (Future posts here will be while in a new position.) This is my last post as the Pastor of St. Clement’s Church; for me, its a moment for which I long have planned, but which, nevertheless, comes with some sadness. For six plus years, after all, weve been meeting like this on FaceBook, and Ill miss that. But those who have made anything of this departure, Im afraid have made too much. This is but a transition, a passing of the baton. Great Pastors and priests have preceded me in this job, and others will follow. And anyway, the priest who ministers here is but the most conspicuous member of a superb team of disciples of Jesus Christ, and none of that will change. Furthermore, Im not even going away! Ill be back from time to time for special Masses and celebrations, beginning on January 11 for one of the Confirmation Rituals. Old pastors, you see, dont fade away; they just keep coming back for more. And thats the way it is: Wednesday, December 31. Ill be away on assignment, and Fr.
