Happy New Year everyone. :) For the last couple years my New Years Resolution has been the same: to put the work in during the coming year to set myself up for the following year to be even better. Its been working, feel free to steal it. So lets see, 2014… An In Lightning song we debuted this year called Memorial Day (crowd favorite) is about friends becoming family. What a beautiful thought. Im so lucky and humbled to have such unconditionally loving friends (capable of inspiring such an awesome tune!). My favorite place to be in the world is simply in their presence, uplifted by their positivity, humor, support, and love. And 2014 allowed for these relationships to continue to snowball, be reinforced, make more memories, more laughs, more inspiration, more love. So lucky. Im a yoga instructor now. Believe me, I did not see that comin this time last year. But, thanks to my resolution, 2014 had me put in the work to create this new career for myself with this passion. Dream job. Unbelievable. Lucky. And speaking of yoga, this very morning I got up bright and early (the morning after New Years Eve partying mind you) to come participate in a huge/long/challenging yoga class with well over 100 people to do 108 sun salutations. Yoga Mala For Africa: 108 Sun Salutations Benefiting the Africa Yoga Project. It was ridiculous, it was powerful, and what a killer way to start the year. And as for In Lightning, last year I was blown away to sit back and think about the journey that this band has been. No longer just ideas in my head, In Lightning is a thing that exists in the world. And has fans! In 2014, we succeeded in making the Louisville music scene aware of us, if not blown away. We played dozens of blockbuster shows all over town, including Headliners Music Hall and our super successful summer concert series at Qdoba. 2015 will be even better, starting with being the featured artist in the Mayors Music and Art Series in February! Dreams coming true. Unbelievable. Lucky. (Shout out to my amazing band mates!) 2014 saw me say goodbye to the artists dreaded day job. Now I get to only have to be a musician and a yogi. Perfect! Unbelievable! Exciting new bands on the way in 2015. (Any Rage Against The Machine or Red Hot Chili Peppers fans out there?!) I will continue to strive to be genuine, strive to be the kind of person that I respect and admire. I will continue to strive to do right by other people, to be considerate and empathetic. I will continue to always be striving to improve myself, be honest with myself, and hold myself accountable. Lets do this 2015. Lets do it for the sake of 2016! Happy New Year!
