Happy New Year, everyone! ... Okay, that requires an explantion. Where I toil for pay - and this might be true in other workplaces, too - we get compensated for labor we performed a week ot two earlier. Our last paycheck of the year will be issued a week from today, and it will cover the two-week period ending today. That check - or direct deposit, as the case will be - and its total amount figure for 2014, will be what I made this year. Starting tomorrow, anything earned will be officially done so in 2015. Thusly, today is the last day of my pay year. Got it? Must be other places where the same is true, arent there? Makes me want to sing ... Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne? I can just about see the bell ringing to the final strains of that song in Its a Wonderful Life.
