Happy New Year friends! The past two weeks have been a bit trying on me, so Ive been lacking in my drive to post. I do apologize. Being a mom is and always will be my number one job and this past week put me to the test. My nerves are a bit shot and I am sure I have a few more gray hairs too! Im happy to report Brandon has recovered from the virus that had him sick pretty much all week. Now we have to figure out the seizures. He has an appointment in a week with his neurologist and has been on a new medication for a week now. I havent gotten much sleep lately as I wake up in the middle of the night trying to figure out how he has developed Epilepsy when it doesnt run in either my family or my exs. It did occur to me the other night at about 2:00am that I received a phone call at work one day from the school nurse that he had been hit hard in the face/head while playing this silly game outside during recess called Wall Ball. I realize worrying about it wont do any good or change what is, but as a parent, you know how when your child is sick or injured, you wish it was you and you wish you could take away their pain. I wish this was me. In the end, I understand he will be fine and this is just another bump in the road. Brandon is absolutely awesome with this. He is amazing. Now he has to take two medications and swallow two large pills twice a day while still taking the old medicine until he can be weaned off of that. I am constantly asking him if he took his medicine in which he replies, Mom, you dont have to ask me! I always take it. Im good! I guess I dont give him enough credit. I forget he is not your typical 12 year old. Since we were home all week recovering, Brandon and I had a very low key New Years Eve together. We were still in our pajamas that were woke up in. Yes, I know that is pretty pathetic, but weve been pretty pathetic this past week. What can I say! We tuned in to NBCs New Years Eve Celebration and at one point we found ourselves dancing in the middle of our living room like teenagers! We started off dancing like rock stars and then Brandon said, Ok now lets slow dance! He then grabbed my hands and we clumsily slow danced, he in his inside out t-shirt and flannel pajama pants and me in my robe and leopard print fleece pants. Yes, we were ringing in 2015 regardless of this nasty virus thing! Sadly the only chips I had in the house was a small bag of Fritos! haha I grabbed the already opened Fritos and some M&Ms and we partied until.....10:30! We just couldnt do it. We couldnt make it until midnight. We tried. We woke up in the new year and we both looked at each other and laughed about our crazy night we had. Ill take a million more nights dancing in my living room with my boy like a silly teenager. Now this leads me to my own mom, who I have not been able to see since I was sick for all of Christmas week and then this week Brandon was sick. My mother may not know my name any longer, but she holds my heart forever with her. She lights up when she sees me. I took this photo at one of my recent visits to see my mom and the photo of Brandon and I was taken while we were at Albany Med the other day.
