With a mosaic of languages and cultures, the traditions and celebrations of Rakhi or Rakhsha Bandhan differs from place to place across India. The date of Raksha bandhan 2013 is 20th August. Legends of Raksha Bandhan Following are some historical evidences of Raksha Bandhan celebration from the Indian history. रक्षाबंधन की परंपरा आर्य समाज के समय (~६००० साल) से चली आ रही है| निम्नलिखित कुछ रक्षाबंदन से जुड़े किस्से है: Rani Karnawati and Emperor Humayun The story of Rani Karnavati and Emperor Humayun is the most significant evidence in the history. During the medieval era, Rajputs were fighting Muslim invasions. Rakhi at that time meant a spiritual binding and protection of sisters was foremost. When Rani Karnawati the widowed queen of the king of Chittor realised that she could in no way defend the invasion of the Sultan of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah, she sent a rakhi to Emperor Humayun. The Emperor touched by the gesture started off with his troops without wasting any time. रानी कर्णावती और राजा हुमायूँ ! रानी कर्णावती और राजा हुमायूँ की कथा इतिहास में काफी महत्व रखती है! उन दिनों जब राजपूत मुस्लमान शासन से लड़ रहे थे, राखी आत्मीय रिश्ता तथा बहन के प्यार के रूप में देखी जाती थी | जब रानी कर्णावती, चित्तौड़ के महाराज की विधवा पत्नी को यह पता चला की गुजरात के सुल्तान – बहादुर शाह के हुकूमत से बचने का कोई और दूसरा रास्ता नहीं है, उन्होंने महाराजा हुमायूँ को राखी भिजवा दी! हुमायूँ को ये बात दिल पे छु गयी और वे बिना समय बर्बाद किये अपनी सेना के साथ निकल गए! Alexander the Great and King Puru The oldest reference to the festival of Rakhsha Bandhan goes back to 300 B.C. at the time when Alexander invaded India. It is said that the great conqueror, King Alexander of Macedonia was shaken by the fury of the Indian king Puru in his first attempt. Upset by this, Alexander’s wife, who had heard of the Rakhi festival, approached King Puru. King Puru accepted her as his sister and when the opportunity came during the war, he refrained from Alexander. महान सिकंदर और राजा पुरु रक्षाबंदन का पुराना उदहारण ३०० साल पहले का है जब सिकंदर ने भारत पे शासन किया था! कहा जाता है कि महान शासक, मसेदोनिया के राजा-अलेक्ज़ैन्डर, राजा पुरु के लड़ाई जीतने से हिल गए थे! अलेक्ज़ैन्डर की पत्नी जिन्होंने राखी के त्यौहार के बारे में सुना था, राजा पुरु के पास जा पहुँचीं! पुरु ने उन्हें अपनी बहन की तरह स्वीकार कर लिया तथा युद्ध के दौरान जब समय आया, पुरु अलेक्ज़ैन्डर से हार गए! Lord Krishna and Draupathi In order to protect good people, Lord Krishna killed the evil King Shishupal. Krishna was hurt during the war and left with bleeding finger. Seeing this, Draupathi had torn a strip of cloth from her sari and tied around his wrist to stop the bleeding. Lord Krishna, realizing her affections and concern about him, declared himself bounded by her sisterly love. He promised her to repay this debt whenever she needed him in future. Many years later, when the Pandavas lost Draupathi in the game of dice and Kauravas were forcibly removing her saari in public, Krishna helped her divinely elongating the saari so that they could never remove it. भगवान कृष्ण जी और द्रौपदी अच्छे तथा गुणी लोगों की सुरक्षा हेतु भगवान कृष्ण जी ने राजा शिशुपाल का वध किया था | युद्ध के दौरान कृष्ण जी के हाथों में लग गयी थी और उसमें से खून आ रहा था | खून आता देख, रानी द्रौपदी ने अपनी साड़ी के एक टुकड़े को फाड़ा और भगवान के हाथों पे बाँध दिया! भगवान को बहन का प्यार तथा चिंता का एहसास होते हुए द्रौपदी को अपनी बहन घोषित कर दिया और द्रौपदी से ये वादा किया की वह इस क़र्ज़ को कभी ज़रूर अदा करेंगे भविष्य में! बहुत साल बाद जब पांडव द्रौपदी को चौसद के खेल में हार गए और कौरव द्रौपदी की साड़ी खींच उसका चीर हरण करने लगे, तब भगवान कृष्ण ने उनकी सहायता की थी| King Bali and Goddess Lakshmi The demon king Mahabali was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Because of his immense devotion, Vishnu had taken the task of protecting Bali’s Kingdom leaving his abode in Vaikuntha. Goddess Lakshmi – consort of lord Vishnu – became sad because she wanted Lord Vishnu with her. So she went to Bali and took refuge at his palace as a Brahmin woman. On Shravana Poornima, she tied Rakhi on King Bali’s wrist. Goddess Lakshmi revealed who she was and why she was there. The king was touched by Her and Lord Vishnu’s good will and affection towards him and his family. Bali requested Lord Vishnu to take her along to Vaikuntam. Due to this, Raksha Bandhan festival is also called Baleva as Bali Raja’s devotion to the Lord Vishnu. It is said that since that day, it has become a tradition to invite sisters on sravan pournima to tie sacred thread of Rakhi or Raksha bandan. राजा बलि और लक्ष्मी जी की कहानी राक्षसों का राजा महाबली भगवान विष्णु का बहुत बड़ा भक्त था और इतनी भक्ति के ही कारण भगवान विष्णु ने बलि के राज्य की सुरक्षा का दायित्व उठाया अपना वैकुण्ठ धाम छोड़ कर | माता लक्ष्मी, विष्णु जी की पत्नी इस बात पर उदास हो गयी क्योंकि वह चाहती थीं कि विष्णु जी उनके साथ रहें | इसलिए वह बलि के राज्य गयी और एक ब्राह्मण औरत की तरह रहने लगी | बलि के यहाँ श्रवण पूर्णिमा के दिन माता लक्ष्मी ने बलि को राखी बाँधी तथा यह बताया की वह कौन है और वहाँ क्यों आई हैं | राजा बलि को यह बात दिल पर छू गयी तथा भगवान विष्णु की कृपा तथा प्यार देखकर उसका दिल भर आया | बलि ने विष्णु जी को लक्ष्मी जी के साथ वापस वैकुण्ठ धाम जाने का आग्रह किया | इसी कारणवश ये दिन बलि राजा की विष्णु भक्ति हेतु भी जाना जाता है| कहा जाता है कि उस दिन से ही ये मान्यता प्रचलित हुई की श्रवण पूर्णिमा के दिन बहनों को पवित्र राखी बाँधने के लिए निमंत्रण भेजना चाहिये और रक्षा बंधन का पावन त्यौहार मनाना चाहिये| - See more at: blog.onlineprasad/2012/08/02/legends-about-raksha-bandhan-2013/#sthash.Zk5UpSRB.dpuf
