Happy Thanksgiving to all! Yesterday, Mike, me and T went to the mission to help prep for Thanksgiving dinner for those who otherwise may not have a place to be on this day. It was a wonderful experience and will look forward to making it an annual event for the Rued family. It is a gift to give back, knowing hardship can fall upon ANYONE. When we arrived home, Mike did everything I asked around the house as I made pumpkin pie, deviled eggs and homemade mash tators and prepared snack trays. It was a houseful today. We had the joy of my new elderly friend Catherine and three of her sisters from church join us. Along with Jennette, Shawn, Gabe, Ashley and Randy. We had turkey that Shawn made in the fry-less cooker (mmmmmmm!). I made prime rib and ham... OOOlala! Sister Johnson gave the blessing that made me choke up. After dinner we had the joy of Shawn singing in opera, which is always a blessing to hear. The sisters sang as well. We have never had a Thanksgiving like this. It was a beautiful experience to open our home to people we do not know and share the experience with family that were able to be with us today. I believe this should be a tradition in our home from here on out. Finally, here are the things I am grateful for... I am grateful for the love of my family, friends, a roof over my head, food in my belly and the opportunity to help people when they need help. I am grateful to know that in 2009 I was facing death with a heart that was working at 18% and told I was in sudden death. By the grace of God, surgery, the love and support of my Mikey, children, friends, and other family, a great Doctor and the hope and belief I would beat the odds; my heart is functioning at 65-70% as of last Thursday. For this I am thankful. That means I am going to live much longer and have the ability to continue to display my onry determination and perseverance! God bless you all! I love and miss you too my sweet Lisa Buckley Yazzie Yes, I had a spectacular Thanksgiving. I hope yours was as wonderful. Say hello to everyone with hugs and kisses.
