Happy Thursday and welcome back to Lena & Johns Really Rockin Reading. Today we bring you our very good friend, HARRY NILSSON as our valued and adored guest reader! Lena: Harry, you and John are BFFs. We know that. And it makes me weepy to have you here together. And Im finally giving your collaborative record, PUSSYCATS, a good listen this morning. I was a kid when this record came out, and I remember the funny T.V. Commercial you guys had for its release back in 1974. I was 12 years old. I thought to myself: What the hell are THESE two up to now? It is a fantastic record! Just fantastic so far and Im only on the 2nd track! HARRY: It is so great to hear this again. You have it cranked and its early! I LIKE IT! John: Were doing Dylan. JOHNNYS IN THE BASEMENT, MIXIN UP THE MEDICINE! It sounds even crazier than I remember! Lena: I love it. And Chris has it on vinyl, so Ill be listening to this one a lot in the coming days. Harry, you wanted to do a reading today based upon the nature of RELATIONSHIPS. Love relationships? HARRY: Love relationships and friendships and all kinds of relationships. It feels fitting, for the three of us and for the Universal Consciousness in general – wouldnt you think? John: I love the idea. I had so few TRUE friends, honestly. And Harry, you were and are tops with me. And you know how I feel about Lena. Lena: Aww! Well, how do you feel about me, Johnny? Let me in on it. (winks) John: Jadore, as Hiram would say, my love. Lena: Good boy. (blows John a kiss) HARRY: SO! This album, Pussycats, was recorded during our infamous LOST WEEKEND, those months when John and I were running rampant around Los Angeles, drinking and carousing and being general merry-makers and rock and roll vagabonds. We got a lot of press, documenting our shenanigans. John: Yes, and I was running around with May also. I had left Yoko for those months to be a rowdy, carousing cuss. So I suppose this is where the relationships get mentioned... HARRY: Well, we dont have to center on that. We dont need to scrutinize you here, dear friend. Lets just see how the cards play out. Lena: Harry, I also want to mention before we begin what a huge fan I have always been of yours. Ive covered several of your classic songs. They always make me cry, I can barely get thru them. Thats the sign of a great song in my book. Youre one of the greatest songwriters of modern times. HARRY: Thank you so much. Ive heard your version of I CANT LIVE. I think Id die and go to heaven (!!!) if you ever decided to record that one. John: She will. Were already planning on it... Lena: Sssh! John! It was gonna be a surprise. John: There are no surprises left, dear girl. Or very few, Im afraid. (smiling) Harry, were gonna work on your song just as soon as Lena masters “Old Dirt Road”. Well be working on that one today. Lena: Yup. I am addicted to that song right now. THAT one makes me cry. Thats Nicky Hopkins on that recording, isnt it John? And not only THAT! I now see that HARRY NILSSON himself co-wrote this with you! O my god! How appropriate is this??? WHY oh WHY is everything so PERFECT?! (Both men laugh and nod.) Lena: Okay, Harry! Time to read! Take it away, pal! HARRY: Alright! So lets take a crack! Now, KNIGHT of PENTACLES followed by the 7 in the same suit rings true as in a common desire to be swept off our feet, to find TRUE CONNECTION with special souls within our realm. Like-minded individuals to trade ideas and pursue goals with. Lets share these cards, right? John, you go next. John: FIVE of SWORDS and TWO of PENTACLES. Generally, the challenge sometimes involved in making things work, making things JIVE within a relationship. Knowing when to hold on and when to let go, gracefully. Lena: Me, next. QUEEN SWORDS and HIEROPHANT. Mother and Father God, as usual, making an appearance. The connection with THEM being key in making all of our other relationships work. I was married to an Atheist for many years. He proclaimed this title proudly and loudly and often: “I AM AN ATHEIST and I LOVE BEING ONE”, blah blah blah. Let me tell you right off the bat. I could never stay in a relationship like that. Never. HARRY: Nor should you, Lena. Nor should you. It took strength to walk away. Lena: Not so much. He made it easy. John: Common spiritual goals has to be in place for any relationship to work. You can kid yourself and pretend its not important, but it will take its toll eventually. It has to. Its just too big an issue. HARRY: Agreed. So FIVE of CUPS validates this. Once again, knowing when you must simply LET GO and move on... John: … Followed by SIX PENTACLES. A brighter tomorrow. Always darkest before dawn and all that. Message: Fear not and follow your heart. Lena: And last card today: 8 of Wands. VERY GOOD NEWS due to arrive quickly, not a moment too soon. Whew. Im so happy to see this card at the end of this reading. It just made me sigh with gratitude, I swear... John: You just relax now, I know how youre feeling. Its okay. Its only because you have feelings and you always worry about hurting others. Let them worry about you for a change, if theyre worth their salt, Lena. Lena: I dont want anyone to worry about me. I just want to be able to live my life in peace from here on in and follow my path. HARRY: And you are and you do and you will. Amen. Thank you for bringing me thru today.
