Happy birthday Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I am thankful for your efforts to uplift humanity, your efforts to eliminate poverty, your understanding of the fact that the violence of war can never lead to peace, your insight into the ramifications of a militarized police force, your willingness to build coalitions with others who wanted to end oppression, and your willingness to fight for what you believed in even in the face of death. Even though you were murdered, what you stood/stand for will continue to live on in spite of the efforts to marginalize your beliefs and to sanitize your legacy. I know you were a revolutionary. I know your dream would have changed the world. I know your efforts to eliminate poverty was the reason the government conspired to assassinate you. Most importantly, I know you embodied love and lived your life in a way that inspired people to have hope. I give thanks for you.... ~ Sean King
