Happy birthday to my beautiful, loving, wise, courageous, generous, invincible and fun mother, Giles Christine! I am so blessed to have you as my mummy, my source of unconditional love. Despite (probably because) you were abandoned by your parents aged 4 to raise your own brother, you have passed onto me many pearls of wisdom for life. As a single mum, you stood by my brother Dominic Giles and me, showing strength through adversity. You showed us that the words tender, tough, constant and love co-exist in perfect balance. You taught me fearlessness, to believe in my own dreams and to always try new things. Your motto for life has always been an inspiration: Nobody can take away whats inside of you meaning the experiences we have in life. You showed us that money even in lacking times should be spent on education, food, travel and those you love. You showed us the world and more. You proved that though people come and go in our lives, a mothers love is steadfast and more dignity and respect can be found in living alone than suffering people who do not value you. When times were hard and relationships failed, we cried, moved home (countless times) and moved on, yet we still had you and our smiles from your nurturing love. You taught me that a good group of girlfriends is vital to survival, that fun must be had no matter the situation! You taught me that true family will not beat you down but that we should admit our weaknesses, apologise and lift each other up. You have been there for me through good times and bad, put me through schools you couldnt afford and given me all that you never had. You stood by my side when I got married and gave birth. I hope you are happy and proud of your greatest achievements - raising two grounded children, surviving, still smiling and enjoying life. My gift to you is a promise to raise my children in your light. May your inner strength and joy touch all those around you for many more years to come! I love you with all my heart and soul, thank you THANK YOU for being my mum. Fate could not have given me a better teacher in life! xoxo
