Happy ending to a kleenex story. The City of St. Louis has about 50,000 senior citizens. Many of them living at poverty level or below. Many do not have transportation or family to help them. Their kitties are their family. When they are hospitalized or pass away their kitties are often put on the street to have kittens etc. :( How do we identify these elderly people and help them? Well as a start St. Louis City Kitties has partnered with the South City Meals on Wheels program. The wonderful drivers have delivered brochures to people that have cats. They have also distributed 35 cases of canned food to these needy cats and their humans the last couple of months. The seniors are finally starting to call for help and are so grateful for the medical care, food & litter we have been providing. We have also finalized a partnership with Nooterville and the Bi State Pet Food Pantry that will make a huge difference to these wonderful people and their kitties. Here we have Shyster. He is a 10 year old beloved pet. His mom finally called to see if we could help. He was having trouble eating and loosing weight. He only weighs 6.3 pounds. Yesterday he had 3 teeth extracted and his teeth cleaned. He also had a course of antibiotics and brought up to date on his shots. He was neutered years ago. He spent the night in the hospital and today I took him home to a mom that started crying for joy. He is on a special diet of Royal Canin Oral Health and he loves it. His mom could not believe he finished the whole dish in a few minutes and had no problems. These pictures of him at the vets show how scared he was. Wish I had taken a camera to capture his homecoming ! I think Shyster was grinning from ear to ear !! THANK YOU !! Your donations make these things happen !! With out you this kitty might have starved to death in a very sad owners arms.
