Happy first of September birthday to My first born! Not of my womb, but mine nevertheless. Forty-seven years ago you came into my life. It was the tumultuous 60s and I was only 15. You were my dollbaby. I played house with you, dressed you up and dragged you with me to cheerleading practice, protests, the village, the fountain-remember when you fell in, Boston, and even to my high school graduation. You went willingly and complained very little. You were the perfect accompaniment. You were cute, polite, and so willing to live my teen-aged life with me. You got the blue rice, the wacky food and eggshakes to fatten you up. You never complained. You were wide eyed and took in everything around you, I knew that you were storing the information to use in your later life. (I didnt expect a tell all mommy dearest book tho! lol!) I thought that you were too precious to place ins P.S. 149 and convinced mama that OLQA was the place for you. You never flinched. We walked those long blocks every morning, you looked so pretty in the blue plaid uniform, and blue shirt. Your juju hairstyles fit your face and even your classmates would say, I like your hair! From there you went into Cathedral and took the place by storm. Sister Maryann couldnt keep up with you. You were always industrious and liked nice things, so you started working at 14, making your own way and never looked back. Like most of us, life for you have been no crystal stairs, places with no carpet on the floor bare, but all the time you reached the landings, and turned the corners, proving that life may not be a bowl of cherries, but if you spit out the pits, it really is what you make it! So happy to say on this, your 47th birthday, that I am so glad you were ever born. No need to tell you you to turn up, you stay turnt up, lol! And thats fine, its who you are, honest, no shame and living la vida loca. We are all following in awe and wonderment, living vicariously and waiting to see where the universe takes you next. You keep passing the tests. You did that, no judgments! Your candle my friend, is not blowing in the wind, its lighting the dark and leading the way... Love you like cooked food, some days better than others, but nevertheless always, in all ways! Happy 47th to my first born.
