Happy memories of my good friend and colleague Dr Mark Jervis, who so sadly and suddenly passed away on Tuesday evening. Mark was endlessly supportive of me since I came to Cardiff in 2002 and it was a privilege to get to know him particularly well during a series of Uni field courses on Skomer Island, where Mark was in his element as a scientist and naturalist. As well as being one of Skomers leading welly-wangers, Marks sense of humour was legendary. I will never forget Mark sitting in the Skomer farmhouse, reading extracts from Alan Partridges autobiography out loud and laughing so hard that he knocked a full mug of coffee into his lap. Rest in peace old friend -no worries now.
