Happy new week, friend. Welcome to todays #UnleashingExcellence. Im excited to have the privilege to be your host for todays episode of Unleashing Excellence. I believe youll enjoy this session too. Heres my message to you: The higher you go in life, the more the need arises to think deep below the surface. If what that means to you is firing up your curiosity, then you get the point Im driving at. Yes, my goal is to encourage you today to start asking the w-h questions: What? Who? Where? When? Why? . . . And most importantly, How? Recently, I was studying my Introductory Biochemistry textbook and this paragraph in its 2nd page leaped off the page and jumped at me: The biochemist is concerned to answer such questions as: How do plants convert the energy of sunlight into chemical energy and thus serve as the primary source of food for all life on this planet? How do the animals utilize the energy within the food for all life on this planet? How do animals utilize the energy within the food for their many different activities? How did life originate and what is the chemical basis of heredity? . . . How do hormones work? What changes occur in disease and what agents can prevent or reverse these changes? Admitted, you may not be a Biochemist like myself, but I know your discipline too certainly deals with finding answers to some questions. The point here is that questions are the foundations of discoveries. And the act of asking questions is a process of thinking . . . the process of thinking deep thoughts. Dont hesitate to want to know what makes your teacher/lecturer tell stories in class. If you find why, it will astound you. And being fascinated is one of the keys to growth. Resurrect that childhood curiosity again (but make sure you add some maturity this time). That curiosity that made you rip your toy car apart and wanted to know what drives it. Yes, that same curiosity that always wanted to know what makes the clock tick. Thats the sort of curiosity Im talking about. Dont just give your environment a glimpse; explore its marvellous wonders. Feel the beauty of the God-fashioned nature. Smell it, taste it, feel it, touch your environment. Ask people questions and behold the beauty of the wisdom buried within them. Ask the Fashion Designer who designs your clothes what life seems to her. Enquire from the local Mechanic who fixes dads car what work looks like for him. Interview the Nurse who dresses your wound about why she handles you with so much care and compassion. Remember, as our friend at KIST!, leader Gideon quipped, The power is in the hands of the seeker. Tap into that creative power this week. * Get interested in people and their problems: Fall in love with problems. Investigate why they keep popping up. Research solutions to them. Go into your mental laboratory and synthesise solutions to the problems the people you take an interest in face. When you help others solve their little problems, youll be making a huge difference in their lives. * Join the Deep Thinkers camp: With respect to depth, 3 camps of Thinkers exist: Camp #1: The Surface Thinkers camp -- They think within the box. Camp #2: The Shallow Thinkers camp -- They think around the box. Camp #3: The Deep Thinkers camp -- They think outside the box. No doubt, the innovators of our time belong to the 3rd Camp. They blaze the trail, break new grounds and set records. They arent afraid to thrive under ambiguities. They think beyond the physical. They see far beyond the present. They see opportunities in the midst of difficulties. Their minds are programmed with thoughts of possibilities. They never cease to think of how life can become easier for you and me. And they never ever quit to produce...they never quit producing stuff thatd make us enjoy life better. You too can be an achiever like them. Join their camp today, and think success always. Never think never! * Expose your mind to change: Our Assistant Academic Director at KIST!, leader Wisdom Alexander once said to me, The longer you expose a mattress to the fire, the more it burns . . . The longer we expose our minds to change, the more well experience change. From what leader Alex told me, I can safely conclude that exposure begets experience. Go out this week and experience life as it is. Look around for the things you desire to change and cause that renaissance by first becoming that change yourself. All of us at KIST! wish you a productive (and for our FUTA friends, a productive lecture-free) week. Im your partner in progress, David O. Lawal (KIST! President) ________________________ Todays Unleashing Excellence is brought to you by KIST!s #TeamSustainableImpact. KIST! ...making evident internal excellence ________________________ Lets have that insightful KIST! conversation again: All Ive shared above are my personal views on tapping into the power of curiosity. And I believe you have some other great ideas we can all learn from. #TheKISTConversation: From your perspective, HOW CAN WE TAP INTO THE POWER OF CURIOSITY AND USE IT TO CREATE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN OUR WORLD? I invite you to leave a reply in the comments below.
