Happy new year! Here I go again, I love New Years. The holiday of clean slates, the day underdogs warn the world to watch out because they just let go of everything thats ever held them back, the time of undefeated optimism and If your new to me on fb you may not have heard me go on about it before so welcome to what has become my favorite holiday. Its possible it always has been my favorite but when asked as I frequently am whats your favorite holiday? Miraculously it doesnt come to mind, and I say miraculously because New Years is its own little miracle. Starting with the way it disappears from mind the rest of the year while quietly staying with you. It silently follows you in the form of resolutions kept or dropped. The spirit of New Years is there in a terrible year of hardships every time you refuse to give up and fight to get out of the hole your in or against all odds make a plan to make things better. Its there when everything goes according to plan and you think back to that pivotal moment you made the change that needed to be made and this time you got it right. It acknowledges problems and needs for improvement void of doubt that they can be fixed. Its recognition that there is success in failure and you may not be thinking about it, until its a new year again. New Years is its own season starting the day after Christmas and it goes roughly through the first week of January. In those ten to 13 days its clean up time and clear away to a depth that makes the most thorough of spring cleaners look shallow. While Christmas babies full of hope and generosity fall into post climax depression, New Years babies perk up with excitement over new beginnings. The magic energy of New Years is unrelenting unreasonable optimism. I dont want to sound ungrateful or spiritually un-evolved but 2014 did make me want to tell all the thanksgiving lovers to take their gratitude and shove it up their ass! But that sounds so negative Blech! and now I can let that go because its New Years and yes there is much to be grateful for but thats a different season and although Mr. Tolle might disagree Im gonna side with The Byrds on the point of a season for everything and say now is the time we are allowed to want more. Want more for ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us so we have more to give. Wanting somehow feels less greedy and offensive when we back it up with a challenge to take action and do something to make it happen. This is how dreams are born. Its time to think outside of whats reasonable or typically what happens, go beyond what you know and look to the future, envision it. Its a happy place isnt it? Full of success and all your dreams come true. If your so down you cant see it dont worry, Im envisioning it for you, for everyone. Its all positive and good because its New Years, now believe its yours for the taking and go get it! ;)
