Happy new year is a very simple and popular expression but I fail to understand it. Many simple equations of physics having profound meaning and application are understood by me and my students but the definition and meaning of happiness eludes me. A source of happiness a decade earlier becomes a source of unhappiness now. There is no eternal happiness in material things around us. The happiness is internal and depends upon the way we look at external things. I look for a new meaning of happiness every year and sometimes I find it. Next year changes everything and proves me wrong. I stopped looking for happiness and started the search for the meaning of happiness. Please share your insight if you think you have found a source of happiness which may not change next year.
