Hard for anyone to imagine...but today it took nearly 6 hours to drive around 150 kilometers. Rugged mountain terrain, and large trucks and buses slowing down the car traffic. Most times you have one lane in each direction. At times roads are superior. Sort of Chicago-like.... many many tolls, they ranged from low of around US $3 to around $9. Not sure how locals afford it. Motorcycles get a free pass. Now in Ibague. Should be able to reach Bogata airport in under five hours. But, as a betting man, my gut feeling is that it will take much longer. Oh: gasoline around $4.20 per gallon!!!
