Hard to believe but I almost missed seeing this Great Blue Heron sitting motionless beside a pond with its head and neck tucked in. I had been taking photos of some ducks in the water just in front of it for about 10 minutes before I finally noticed it. It must have just been resting because when I got out of my vehicle to see if it was injured or sick, it lifted off effortlessly and flew to a neighboring pond.
