Hard to belive that a week ago on Monday morning after his first surgery this is how I saw him the first time other than right before surgery. He was very lucky. For those who dont think God exists or have found themselves angry at God, or anything else know this..... Sometime between 9 and 9:30pm Chris got in this accident. He was alone, it was very dark, and it was on a really bad area of Geiger grade where other cars might have hit him. It was also cliff side he crashed. On impact his helmet came off, his body slid along the top of the guardrail for 20 ft, the top of the guardrail had very sharp metal pieces to keep it in place. His motorcycle never hit him. It however did go along the guard rail upright just smashing a few parts for another 150 ft. Chris snagged and ended up under the guardrail caught. If he hadnt snagged he would have dropped over 100feet down which the time to find him, the extent of that big of a fall he would have died. Within minutes of the accident a car came up, those who dont know many people avoid this road even during the day. Its very dangerous. If he hadnt gotten help even 10 minutes later the amount of blood he was loosing he would have died. The woman called 911 then took it upon herself to call someone in his family. If she hadnt called me at 9:45pm I wouldnt have been 5 minutes away from the hospital (Which is when they called to let me know he had been there for half an hour..he arrived by helicopter) or 2 hours later when the fire department called to let me know. When I got there they didnt let me see him right away, it was just before surgery because I had to sign some forms. That was then they explained his injuries. Multiple fractures to his right arm Life threatening lacerations to his side and leg Possible broken leg Possible concussion The first surgery was to clean up the wounds, asses damage, and get the bleeding to stop. After the first surgery they said he Broke his neck But didnt have a concussion or other broken bones. The deep cut on his side was less than 1/8 inch away from any organs. He had gain some weight and his fat had protected him. The cut to his leg was in a way it missed all the major blood vessels and nerves, while it went down to the bone, the bone was still intact. He lay there like this in the bed, bumps, bruises, road rash. They explained his injuries were very bad while he was trauma stable he lost a lot of blood and he still may not make it. By this point my entire church as well as any family I could get a hold of was wearing out their knees praying for a miracle. By Wednesday afternoon he had. Had a total of 4 surgeries but all went really well and all docs felt he was going to pull through and heal 100% His spine was 30% damaged and it was a tricky surgery as they had to go in through the front of his neck to fuze the c1 and c2 vertebrae and completely replace the c5. Doc said he was born with one of the arteries along his spine smaller than the other. Not common at all and it happened to be on the side he broke, the bones went right by it instead of through it which again he would have died in seconds if it were normal. His arm he managed to not even nick the main nerve that control his arm but he missed it by a hair. He is amazing the doctors after a week of fevers above 103 he isnt brain dead and his organs shut down. He should still be clinging to life and not doing as well because this kind of trauma take weeks in ICU to heal. Still dont think God has control of everything? Chris and I had a huge fight that week and for once I stayed mad and gave him the cold shoulder. Our marriage has been rocky since I got pregnant. The day he had the accident my body was having regular contractions at only 32 weeks. He had wanted to call into work to take me to the hospital but I said no. So he left for work and I took a hot bath just after 9:15pm where they stopped around 9:30pm...I was watching a movie on my phone when the call came. Our new home is less that 5 minutes from my parents and both brothers. All of which still were up and dressed.Clint and my mom took me to reno and my dad got the girls. Andrew was in Carson at the movies with his wife which had just ended and they were headed to their car. Clint the brother I am a year older who was my best friend growing up I saw a side of him through this I havent seen in years. As we aged we grew apart. This brought us back together as he like my mom became the solid rock I needed to Keep me sane. Andrew my youngest brother took on a role he has never taken for me. He became the logical assistant that helped me find the bike, his stuff, file claims, get his work straightened out. Thats just the. Tip of everything. His motorcycle group I wasnt to keen on him spending time with I found also became a family to me. They got his bike, they got me a free room to stay in while. I was in reno, and so much more. The neighbors Chris didnt like all came together to help with food, and some needed repairs around the house.. If after all that and you cant see that this one accident worked in so many ways you truly are in the dark. If you have found you are and want to talk please seek me out. God has brought me this insane peace all week. Chris and I celebrated. 5 years of being in love yesterday, Saturday we celebrated the little boy we will have in a few weeks. I still have him in my life even though 10,000 reasons. Say why I should be a widow right now.
