Harley Dave Hanson *May 5, 1998 - January 4, 2015 Today we said good bye to our beloved kitty Harley. He was a great cat, he had the loudest purr, that is how he got his name :) He had been with us for 16 1/2 years. He came into our lives as a scrappy kitten in a wood pile at my parents house. We caught him and he hid in the garage for a few days, scared and dirty. We caught him again and I took him in the house, wet down a warm wash cloth, and wiped him down, and the purring began and didnt stop until today. He knew all my secrets, and kept me company when I was living alone going to hygiene school in Fargo. He survived toddlerhood of 2 young children, welcomed a brother-Tonker kitty, and our new addition Mandi (dog). He hated the out doors, and often would only peek his head out and scurry back in, but liked to be around his people. He has been lost twice and found twice. He was a gentle giant. Harley was taken to the hospital initially thinking that he had diabetes. He lost half his body weight, and started to bounce back, a day being home, he had difficulty walking, and no food was going in. We took him back and he had an X-ray and ultrasound and the Doc found a fast growing tumor obstructing his intestines. It was terminal. We decided to end his suffering. He went to sleep in our arms. The kids are sad, and so is Dan and I. This is the kids first loss of a family pet. He will forever be in our hearts
