Hartal in Valley. ,, Sopore town under siege. Mirwaiz Geelani under house arrest: Mukhtar Lone, June 24: Valley is observing shutdown against the killing of a youth in Sopore by the hands of the Govt. on Monday evening. Three factions of Hurriyat Conference,Hurriyat(G), Hurriyat (M) and Hurriyat (JK) had given strike call. However, the public transport is thin though shops and business establishments in the Vally remained closed, Hurriyat(G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani and senior cadres of his Tehreek-e-Hurriyat have been placed under house arrest. Hurriyat(M) Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq has also been placed under house arrest. Reports said police has been deployed outside his Nigeen residence. Arshid Ahmad Shah was killed in Sopore when forces resorted to ‘indiscriminate firing’ to disperse protesters at an encounter site on Monday. Meanwhile, Sopore town is under siege following the killing.
