Haruo Oharas photos of Japanese laborers who immigrated to Brazil a century ago, depict everyday work in the fields, detailing the cultivation of coffee plants by laborers, protected from the sun by large straw hats, or the drying of coffee beans spread out on the like in a contemplative’s garden. From his photos there emerges a vision of a Japanese community that maintained strong cultural ties with its homeland.
