#Harvests at Herdade do Esporão, Alentejo – Ongoing until 24th September, Herdade do Esporão is calling all to discover the traditions of grape harvesting in the Alentejo, suggesting an interesting itinerary of activities all closely related to the harvesting folklore. The harvest is the culmination of a grow cycle for the grapes, and one of the most remarkable activities at Herdade do Esporão. To celebrate this, the special harvest program offers the full experience, from the picking of the grapes to the tasting of the wine. The day starts off with a welcome serving off coffee by the vines, to get everyone in the right mood. This is followed by a leisurely stroll through the vines, where you will witness first-hand the practices and traditions of grape picking, and also be asked to partake in these. The tour then moves on to the winery and its cellars where the winemaking and aging processes are broken down and explained, and including a look at the barrel tunnels and the aging cellars. At the end of the day, two of the winery’s wines will be offered up for tasting. To wrap things up, a special harvest menu will be served at the restaurant for lunch, taking you to the roots of the typical Alentejo flavours, with the contemporary touch of chef Michel Vaz. esporao/enoturismo/programas-especiais/
