Has Your Ship Run Aground? by Gerald Grable We are all skippers or captains of our own lifes ships and we ride the waves up and down along our journey of life. It is up to each one of us which course we set. And what course have you set? Have you chosen a course of smoother water but no true direction or port at your journeys end? The course of righteousness will not be one of calm water, but the port of call being Heaven, makes this journey well worth the trials and tribulations which are encountered in rough sailing. Gather your faith about you, set sail and believe that the Lord will see you through. Many of us do set sail on the right course of righteousness but along the way we run off course, and as though sailing through the Arctic, we must dodge icebergs, much as we try to dodge the pitfalls and obstacles set in our lifes path by Satan. Our Lord in Heaven has provided us with the bearings for the right course, plotted out for our arrival unto Him, and has given us enough time to complete our individual journeys. Let us, brothers and sisters, set our sails on the only course by which Heaven may be obtained by faithful and earnest sailing. If you should find yourself running aground and not moving forward, wait for the tide of angels that our Lord will most certainly deploy, for your rescue shall come. Be ready in preparation to back up a little and reset your bearings. Despair not, for if you truly know where you want to go and your destination is Heaven, our Lord will safeguard your journey and allow only those rough waters that will bring us closer to our final and righteous goal. “ Dear sweet Lord of Heaven and Earth, I pray that you shall guard and guide our course and give us rescue from time to time, for we are not well-seasoned sailors but with your love and your help, surely you will see us through. In Jesus Holy name, Amen.” Remember, brothers and sisters, tis your ship that you are captain of. Set your course across the straight and narrow. Rescue those along the way that you can and embrace the wind in your face for soon all journeys here shall come to an end. Gerald Grable--- February 2008 II Timothy 4:7-8 Paul writing to Timothy, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” Mark 4:37-40 “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him and say unto Him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And He arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?”
