Has anybody here investigated, or is anybody interested in investigating, the Bangladesh-India border? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh%E2%80%93India_border While India is a poor country, per capita income in the country is about 2X as much as in Bangladesh, and even the regions directly bordering Bangladesh have higher per capita income than Bangladesh. Unlike the case of Mexico-US migration, Bangladesh-India migration is not such a salient political issue at the national level, mostly because intraregional tensions in India are easier for politicians to exploit. Despite the lack of salience, the Indian government has invested in an electrified border fence and officers have in some cases been given shoot-on-sight orders. Bangladesh is probably one of the few regions that faces significant dangers from sea level rise and flooding, so the freedom to move out of the region can matter from that perspective as well (albeit this is not a dominant consideration). I think this is worth looking into in more detail. Anybody have more knowledge of the subject, or willing to investigate it? Suggestions for information sources?
