Has anyone else had serious trouble monetising videos with a decent amount of views on youtube? Most of my videos on there are monetised, but if any of them get to any serious numbers of viewings copyright claims start coming out of the woodwork. At the moment this video of mine: https://youtube/watch?v=YJ3XFTFOmvQ is heading towards 40,000 views. When it it above 20, a copyright claim was raised. I contested it. It was released, only for another copyright claim to come up. I contested that, they rejected the contest, I re-contested and they released. Now this morning another claim has been raised. Is this a tactic youtube use with independent film makers so they just give up and some random company (always random - this one is called: mgmdistributiondigital, Koch Entertainment, IODA) takes the money? I suppose if random companies were to claim copyright on everything as a matter of course then theyd be bound to make serious money with the amount of videos out there. None of the music or sounds on that film are copyright. The sounds on the film were bought from Kevin MacLeod. You dont even have to pay the guy - he offers that music for free - but I did give him a donation over paypal in any case. Now I am no fool - I know the money youtube would give for 40,000 views would be paltry. But Ill be damned if Im going to let that paltry amount of money go to some random company without a fight.
