Has this happened to any of your loved ones? A lady in her 80s, - TopicsExpress

Has this happened to any of your loved ones? A lady in her 80s, who had suffered with diabetes, had endured a number of small strokes previously, was admitted into a residential home in January 2014, after being refused (FREE) continuing care after being admitted to hospital after a fall at home. The family were very happy with the care mom was receiving, and the care home being located close to the family, and where contact could be made easily. In June 2014, she was taken to hospital on four occasions and each time returned to the care home. Unfortunately the lady was by this time double incontinent and her health had rapidly deteriorated. The NHS had returned her to the care home, because in their words as she was not catheterized, she did not qualify for free continuing care Unfortunately the lady passed away at the beginning of October, we advised the family to claim back all the care costs since the first visit to hospital in June, which could amount to about £12,000. Why? Because the NHS in June did not admit the lady to hospital, although she was at one stage left in a corridor on a bed for several hours, they failed to access her needs under the department of Health Framework, which after the second visit for the same reason it can be argued they should have done. Social services may also be at fault because by statute if a patients health deteriorated rapidly, they have a legal obligation to request a Fast Track assessment from the NHS Neither the NHS or Social Services have met their obligations in this instance which happens with alarming regularity throughout he country. If this has happened to a loved one, CONTACT US !!! It is likely the family are entitled to a refund of fees paid. The family of this lady have asked us to share of their experiences, to hopefully save others and loved ones having to endure the experiences they have had this year, but are thankful for our support, which is continuing.
