Hassan Zanna Boguma wrote: I watched AITs live discussion on the insurgency this morning where Shehu Sani of the human rights watch and a Christian pastor featured. I was provoked by their kind of misleading and ignorant comments on the situation in the Northeast which prompted me to write to the AIT which acknowledges receipt of the message I sent. Below is what I wrote to them: It is nauseating to always watch your station discussing Boko haram insurgency with complete ignorance. Those commentators/discussants always talk ignorantly about the real situation on ground which keep on creating falsehood, increased sentiments and hate in the minds of the gullible public. Your discussions this morning is an empty discussions by people who have never visited Borno, Yobe or Adamawa to assess facts of the matter or even meet with victims and authorities over there. Shehu Sani has never cared to conduct a research on the crisis based on grassroots assessment, he has never visited the towns and villages affected yet, he is there talking as if he is an authority on the matter. His suggestion for a Datti involvement seems mischievous for us in Borno because, we see Dr Datti as part of the conspiracy that entrenched Boko Haram in our state. Dr Datti has severally rejected to negotiate with the insurgents and was seen as someone who can do a magic. Have you or any of the news media cared to investigate into his activities, his relationship with the late leader of the insurgency or the real motives behind his rejection of earlier invitations? What even annoyed me most is the baseless assertions, sentimental reasoning and unfortunate comments by the clergyman who represented our Christian brethren on the flatform. Quranic injunctions claimed by the pastor of approving killings and to which he opined, the insurgents subscribe is wrong and did not hold any water. Interpretations of the Holy Quran and understanding its meanings and applications does not in anyway reflect the line of thinking of these criminals. If you truly want to understand the exegesis of the meaning of these claimed verses, you will not refer to mischief makers, rather, you refer them to,those who master them. Since the beginning of the insurgency which till today, we dont believe to be an Islamic affair has affected the Muslims more than the Christians. This, we know is aided by the media outlets, especially the southern media to create hate and enmity among the Christian faith and Islam. About 85% of the victims of the insurgency were the Muslims, 90% of the destruction of towns, villages and properties were that of the Muslims, but if one Christian is killed deliberately or otherwise, the sensation created by the media including the international media is unprecedented, thus, crucifying the innocent Muslims and calling them names with lots of impunity. The handling of the crisis by the federal government is not anything to write home about. When our case is recalled at The Hague, then heads will roll. The insurgents and their collaborators whether in government or outside will not escape the wrath of the law. Our case is a case of violation of international humanitarian laws and human right abuses to which both the insurgents and the government are liable. If you really care about the massacred people up North and what is going on there, you need to invite people on ground to,tell you and the world about what is happening. You shouldnt jus sit in your arm chair offices and cozy studios to listen to cock and bull stories by people who are blinded by ignorance and sentiments without merit to the matter at hand. I wish all media organizations will see reason in relaying the truth and only the truth about the carnage going on in my state. I wish you can invite us the people in Borno to speak to,the world about the true situation on ground. I wonder and at times perturbed to hear people talking about military success when they have abandoned their constitutional responsibilities of protecting innocent Nigerians being systematically wiped, exterminated and destroyed along the Gideon Orkah program. Yes we have a division in Borno, but the division has left us unprotected. From Kawuri in Konduga to Izghe in Gwoza, from Konduga town to Bama, from Buni massacre to Mainok, from Mafa to Jakana all within a period of three weeks, tells you how vulnerable our towns and villages are and how inept the mission by the military to contain the crisis is? These and many other loopholes makes the issue look like an inside job operation, a conspiracy and design by some powerful men somewhere.
