Hassan al Basry rahimahullaah was asked regarding the secret to his detachment from worldy gains (zuhd) in this dunyaa, he replied with 4 statements, he said: 1. I realised that no one will do my actions for me so I busied myself with carrying them out. 2. I realised that my provisions (rizq) will inevitably not go to other than me so my heart became content. 3. I realised that Allaah is watching me so I became shy to let Him see me upon sin 4. I realised that death is waiting for me so I prepared myself for meeting my Rabb.
