Hate is a learned behavior: Last weekend at a football game, I watched my little girl run off to play, hand in hand, with her two little friends (who happen to be bi-racial). She doesnt see a difference when she looks at her friends, all she sees is a friend-not a color, race or religion. Children are not born biased or racist, they are taught or learn those things. If our children hear us say derogatory things about others, they will inherently take on those opinions. If we teach our children to believe that people of another race will hate them, then they will believe that. If we teach them to be good to others but dont model that behavior ourselves, then our teachings will be in vain. If you want to stop the hate, you have to start with yourself before you can teach your children. I have preached and preached to my children to be good (or the words I generally use are be sweet) to everyone. The innocence of our children is more valuable than anything measurable. Be careful what you model for your children, they will be what you show them.
