•Haunted Ancient History• Jericho ~ One of Earths earliest known cities. It is believed by most Paralogians that the ancient ruins of the planet have paranormal/supernatural activity that can be detected by various forms of investagating & documentation. There are hundreds of archeological sites that are consitered ancient & dot the planet. But which ones would be the most haunted? As l continue to study & ponder the question, l find that Jericho fits many criteria ghost hunters would want on an investigation. Three times as old as Rome, Jericho was an ancient city even in the time of the Biblical figure of the Old Testament; Joshua. The city is over 9000 years old. Not only is it ancient, but the city exsists to this day. The oldest layers of the city can be found 50 feet down. This means that countless generations have lived & died there many different ways. Jericho has also seen war. When Joshua brought the Israelites out of the desert after wandering for 40 years, it was the first city they came across. God had Joshua surround the walls of the city for 6 days. On the 7th day the Ark of the Covenant was used to bring the city walls down & the city was taken. The Canaanite population was put to the sword, the city was burned to the ground, & the spot was placed under a curse. Skeletons excavated in Jericho have evidence of malaria & pneumonia. They wouldve been susceptible to all the plagues & diseases of the past as well. Bodies have been excavated all around the city as well as inside the city walls & even underneath their homes. So you have a genocide & a curse from God... & bodies literally almost everywhere. Between the amount of time allowed & the amount of tragedy endured, this city of 25,000 has no shortages of reasons to account for the ghostly encounters reported by both Archeologists & residents. I would asume that being both a hot spot for spirit activity & Ufo activity as well (see UFO hotspots in prior NWPS post), it would allow for the better than average chance to capture paranormal phenomenon. A town so small (due to a curse?) w/so much paranormal potential, l would definitely love a chance to camp out for a few days (w/a translator, of course) & have my hand at garnering some evidence & seeing the oldest known city in the world... unless you believe in Atlantis. ~Kevin Malek (Paranormal Historian & founder of the N.W.P.S.)
