Have a do it yourself task to prove how powerful our country, the Bahamas is, then I have a question that I would like for each of us to ask ourself. Google: biggest resorts in the Caribbean Ask: Shouldnt this directly affect my status as a world citizen?!? Two of the largest resorts, per anything, is located on this tiny island of New Providence that we 300,000 reside on for the most part of our lives. This may not seem as a significant fact, but let me put it in perspective. Tourism & travel industry support 266 million jobs and is responsible for 9% of the worlds GDP (salary). In laymans terms that means $8.5 trillion and 10% of employed in the world work in tourism. Our countrys profit from tourism is $4 billion per year and employs 40% of the workforce, which is 20% of the population. When the numbers are crunched and crunched until it turns into economic grits, this averages out for a steady salary of $50,000 per household. This was in 1995! Now in 2015 these numbers may or may have not increase by word of mouth, but men lie, women lie...numbers dont lie; and the global economy economic numbers are beyond what the local grapevine can broadcast. The top ten Chinese billionaires average $10 billion each. The top three earn from e-commerce, real estate & the Internet. Second most in the world with 152. USA is number one with almost 500, most of whom who have no address of residence. So this means most of the world richest people have no home! The perspective being positioned can be viewed from two points of view. The first is where being an independent country with more unclaimed, inhabitable, beachfront and tax-free land than most countries, we can choose to lease most of the land to accommodate wealth for business and residence. The second is we can keep the land and develop for solicitous purposes. Meaning, put in place infrastructure for when certain industries begin their purchasing phase, there will be an uninterrupted flow from lessees to lessor, causing direct cash injection.
