Have a great Monday everyone. For some reason this appears to be day # 3 of pretty cloudy and chilly weather here in Cotacachi, Ecuador. Despite this we have had some great but windy weather and are definitely in the dry season, I cannot remember the last time it rained. Today is my volunteer lunch day at Pan de Cielo, the local soup kitchen. We start around 10 AM and finish around 1 PM. I also have a Board of Directors meeting for our local dog group, Amici Cannis, at 4 PM. Tomorrow is my martial arts day - a private lesson with Sensei Rick Short in the morning, then our Tuesday-Thursday class meets at 6 PM. Wednesday Barb and I are probably taking the bus to the Ibarra bus terminal, than catch a cab to Clinica Metropolitano (she had her gall bladder surgery there last year) as our Doctora Luz here in Cotacachi wants her to have an X-Ray of her shoulder. Then another cab over to the nice shopping mall to get some stuff we cannot get locally at SuperMaxi and not sure what else. If we dont have too much to bring home well take the bus, otherwise a cab for probably a $12.00 fare. Unlike me Barb is really pushing learning Spanish. She and 2 friends are starting a new intermediate class with David DeChambeau later this morning and the 3 of them will periodically get together to practice. A busy 1st part of the week; best to all. I am not aware of any big parades or celebrations this week but one never knows. Early September is the big JORA festival and Ill write something later about what JORA is. I keep looking for posters and eventually at the municipal building there will be free booklets of dates, events and the venue for events. If its the same as last year the first event will be a huge parade, starting right on our street, Sucre, that runs a good 3 1/2 to 4 hours! Then on a weekend a big horse (Chagra) parade. This year, with a new camera, Ill be able to get much better pictures/video and, of course, Ill be out in the thick of it taking pictures to share.
