Have any of you guys noticed how well True Detective would fit as a DG scenario? I agree the whole Yellow King mythos thing was a little shaky, but it had some genuinely cosmic-horrorish moments that I thoroughly enjoyed, especially in the finale. I really liked the fact that the ACTUAL cultist murderers were never actually caught, and the way the murders were being covered up by the state authorities in that show. Also, the Matthew McConaugheys character was absolutely outstanding. I just loved him - a Louisiana State Trooper with a classified past. I like to think of him as maybe a DG agent who flipped it after one night too many at the Opera. That would fit in with his 4 years of undercover work and subsequent psychiatric hospitalization. So when he sees the elder signs when he investigates the Dora Lange murder he knows whats up. I think True Detective is taking the whole mythos to the mainstream. I certainly would not mind watching more Lovecraft-inspired programming on TV. What do you guys think?
