Have had Pasos for about 30 years so am relatively familiar with their quirks. My guy is about 15, no hoof problems for the first 8 - 10 years. First started getting slightly outchy on gravel, got progressively worse until now I feel I must put the glue ons on him. Up until the past year I have always been able to pick his feet but I can no longer win when it gets to his left front. Ive been very patient and am his only owner so it isnt abuse and there wasnt a problem for many years. My farrier is able to trim, sometimes I have to do a little lip twitch and am always at his head keeping things pretty much under control. Im assuming the outchy problem and his objection to having his left front done are related. And I think the problem may well be his right front. That being said, I know I will have to be ready to sedate when we put the glue ons on. Used the stuff that goes under the tongue a couple of years ago when I changed farriers. Have been thru 3 in the past few years because I had only had trims and had to get someone for shoes. The hooves breaking up and his ouchiness brought me to my current farrier and I have had to do a lot of online research for him to get him up to speed on current glue ons. Any suggestions/help in the sedation or glue on department would be greatly appreciated. And I had his feet xrayed last year so there isnt anything wrong physically.
