Have to post this, even though I know it ll be long! Ive been getting over a hundred friend requests lately that Ive yet to accept or ignore. Theres a high probability I know each person sending them. However, for those of you Ive yet to confirm, I need you to know the reason. I have had Traumatic Brain Injury ( TBI) since 2008. I lost a great amount of long term memory, from my childhood, school years, and beyond that time as well. If I think you might be from my school years, particularly from high school, when I have time I go thru year books to try and recognize names and faces prior to confirming your friendship request, or sending a request to you. Even if I do accept the request, that doesnt always mean I remember you, it may just be that I was able to confirm we were in school together. Its funny, the only two people I recognized immediately on fb were Danny Fry and Trenia Pearson! Danny has certainly changed a lot in looks since high school, so I find it amazing that I knew who he was right away! And Trenia, I have no idea how I knew her, only that I did. As I said, Ive accepted many requests because I found you in year books, sent out some requests for the same reason. If theres anything in particular that you think might help me remember you, Id be grateful if youd share it! Although neurologists say I most likely wont regain much of the long term memory loss due to where the TBI has affected my brain, I refuse to accept that, and look forward to all of you helping me to remember as much as possible! My short term memory loss is frustrating as well, but Id really like to remember the distant past! So, if I dont respond immediately to your friend request, it s not because I dont want to be fb friends. Its because Im trying to remember who you are and how I know you! Thanks for your patience and understanding! Ive come a long way in overcoming the many ways TBI has affected my life, as I had to re-learn some of the basic functions in life , but Gods been good to me, has helped me through it all! Five years ago, understanding how to use a computer was a tremendous and frustrating task. But as you can see, I have learned a few things about it! I welcome any comments on how we knew each other. You never know..one memory could open the floodgates to hundreds of them! I have 2 degrees from Purdue which helped place me in executive corporate positions. Im more than hopeful to be back in that world in the next few years, once I prove the Dr.s wrong! Through the power of God, support from friends , and sheer determination, I believe those dead brain cells WILL regenerate!
